Gandhi's Early Life

Gandhi When He was Young

Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi (also known as Mahatma Gandhi)  was born on October the 2nd 1869, in the modern state of Gujerat, India. He was born into a political Hindu family, as both his father and grandfather had been Prime Ministers to the rulers of two tiny states.

After an adequate but not great career at school, he went to London in 1888, at the age of nineteen, to train as a lawyer, leaving behind his young and illiterate wife, whom he had married when she was barely in her teens. Gandhi qualified as a barrister three years later and returned to India.

"Peace will not come out of a clash of arms but out of justice lived and
done by unarmed nations in the face of odds."
